David Conover, UO's vice president for research and innovation, named Kate Petcosky-Kulkarni as the new Director of Strategic Research Initiatives in Research Development Services. She begins officially on Monday, October 15, 2018.
"Kate will play an important role in our efforts to increase externally sponsored research funding," Conover said in an announcement sent to academic and administrative leaders.
In her role, Petcosky-Kulkarni will develop and implement programming to support and grow research activity, with a focus on early career faculty development, funding diversification, and large and prestigious proposal support. She will lead the unit’s existing research development programs and trainings, and build new programs and offerings.
Most recently, Petcosky-Kulkarni served as Director of the Office of Proposal Development at the Boston University School of Medicine, where she led the growth of her office from a two-person team focused solely on pre-award administration to a 7-person-unit providing comprehensive faculty support.
